New Lenox Police to Get Pay Bump in New Contracts
New Lenox police patrol officers and sergeants will see pay increases, after the village board Monday approved new contracts.

The contracts with the Metropolitan Alliance of Police and Fraternal Order of Police cover five New Lenox sergeants and 31 officers.

The new, four-year MAP contract includes 2.5 percent pay raises for three years, which increases to 3 percent in the fourth year, Herald-News reports. Starting pay for sergeants will go from $90,949 in 2014, up to $98,420 in 2017.

Under the three-year contract with FOP, patrol officers will see a 2.5 percent raise for three years. Starting pay will increase from $52,855 in 2014, to $55,531 in 2016.

Contracts also include a $20,000 increase to cover funeral expenses for any officers killed in the line of duty. Officers will also receive the same short-term disability coverage as other village employees, receiving up to 70 percent of their pay for up to six months, if they suffered an off-duty injury or illness.
