Northbrook's Congregation Beth Shalom held their HUGS Chocolate Seder on Sunday April 6. HUGS, Healthy, Understanding and Growing Space is a program that Beth Shalom started to meet the needs of Jewish families with all manners of special needs. Started by Cantor Steven Stoehr over Rosh Hashanah two years ago, this program has grown to offer 6-7 programs per year. North Suburban Synagogue Beth El in Highland Park was a partner in this seder as well. The chocolate seder featured 4 cups of chocolate milk, a smores sandwich (Hillel sandwich), chocolate dipping strawberries(karpas), and cocola powder to taste (maror). Everyone received a gift for finding the Afikomen. Inclusivity and welcoming to all within our community is the goal of the program.
