Couple Found Passed Out in Car After Shooting Up Heroin Behind Wendy's: Prosecutor

Wife was on parole for drug conviction, husband was taken to nearby hospital, prosecutor said.

OAK FOREST, IL -- A woman found passed out in a vehicle behind an Oak Forest fast food restaurant was arrested on drug charges and her husband taken to a hospital after they allegedly shot up heroin, prosecutors said in court.

Kelly Pagach, 28, of Joliet, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance. She is currently on parole for a drug charge from the Illinois Department of Corrections.

The prosecutor said that Oak Forest police responded to a report of two suspicious people parked behind Wendy’s, 4170 W. 167th St., on Oct. 20. Officers observed a pop can with burnt residue and two syringes filled with what later field tested positive for heroin.

Both people inside the car were passed out, The woman, later identified as Pagach, allegedly admitted to police that she and her husband had purchased heroin in Markham. Her husband was taken to a nearby hospital.

A pre-trial public safety assessment recommended release with pre-trial monitoring.

“I can’t go along with that, she’s on parole,” Judge Felice said. “Why should be released? So she can kill herself?”

Bail was set at $30,000 with random drug testing. Judge Felice also said he would sign an order for treatment in the Cook County Jail’s drug program.

Pagach’s next court hearing is Nov. 14 in Bridgeview.
