Country Club Hills Explosion: Pets Killed, Firefighters Hurt in House Fire
An explosion in Country Club Hills left a home decimated and was heard in nearby towns.

COUNTRY CLUB HILLS, IL — A house apparently exploded in south suburban Country Club Hills Friday afternoon, resulting in a loud "boom" that could be heard as far as Oak Forest and massive flames and smoke that have been seen from as far as Tinley Park. The explosion occurred around 4 p.m. near 163rd St. and Kedvale Ave. in the suburb, not far from traffic on Interstate 57.
The incident resulted in the death of two house pets and injuries to two firefighters who responded to battle the blaze, according to a CBS-Chicago report.
Units from Country Club Hills Fire Station No. 2 responded to "a pretty big fire," according to a firefighter from the other station in Country Club Hills. The firefighter had no other details other than to say that aerial coverage of the blaze was shown on local Chicago television stations.
