Oompa! St. Nicholas' Greek Fest Kicks Off June 17-19 With Food, Music, Dancing

Celebrate a weekend in Greece without having to leave Oak Lawn with authentic Greek food, dancing and music.

Oak Lawn, IL, June 17, 2016 -- Enjoy a weekend in Greece without the jet lag. St. Nicholas Orthodox Church kicks off its annual Greek Fest this weekend, June 17 through June 19, at 103rd Street and Kolmar Avenue.

Oak Lawn’s Greek Fest offers a full weekend of everything Greek -- rain or shine. Enjoy a fabulous menu featuring Greek chicken, made with lemon, olive oil and Greek oregano, pork souvlaki, generous piles of warm gyro, topped with juicy tomatoes, onions and Tzatziki sauce, hot tiropites (cheese filled pastry puffs),spanakopita or a refreshing Greek salad, as well as other delicious Greek offerings.
And don’t forget to try the delicious Baklava and Loukoumathes (feather-light golden puffs of pastry drenched with honey and cinnamon) along with an ice cold Greek style coffee frappe. Just like the village. Takeout orders are available for your convenience. And NEW this year, take advantage of the St. Nicholas Greek Fest DRIVE-THRU, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m.Friday; and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Saturday.
Whether you choose to eat under the big tent, in the village “Plaka” courtyard, or beer garden, the festival is serving up some delicious food.
Music and Greek dancing are featured under the big tent all weekend long, with live Greek bands performing all day Saturday and Sunday, as well as a performance by traditional Greek Dance Troupes.

Celebrate Father’s Day weekend and the official start of summer with specialty wines and beer, available at the taverna-inspired plaka courtyard, along with our famous Ouzo and Metaxa.
For the kids there are carnival games and jumpy houses.

Guided tours of beautiful St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, which houses beautiful classic Byzantine style mosaics and iconography, will be offered daily. .Friendly tour guides and the church priest will be happy to answer all your questions.

Friday, June 17, 4 to 11 p.m.
Kicking off Greek Fest is Infinity-The Classic Rock Experience starting at 7 p.m. for the ultimate rock experience. Come enjoy some classic rock and savor savor St. Nick’s FAMOUS Greek Chicken, or some souvlaki, gyros, pastitsio and the rest. Greek Fest’s full menu will be offered.

Saturday, June 18, 2 to 11 p.m.
Live Greek music featuring Chicago’s best Greek wedding band Rythmos Entertainment, plus performances by Greek Dance Troupe "Paradosis" and the children of St. Nicholas.

Sunday, June 19, Father's Day, 2 to 10 p.m.
Treat Dad to the ultimate Greek experience (who needs another tie!).
Live Greek music provided by Grecian Formula (Chicago's Premier Greek Band), dance troupe performances and church tours.
