Visitation and funeral arrangements announced for CPD Officer David Harris at Blake-Lamb this Sunday and Monday.

Wake for Fallen Chicago Police Officer Set for Sunday at Blake-Lamb

Chicago Police Officer David Harris, who was killed in the line of duty on March 14, will be waked at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home in Oak Lawn this Sunday, Second City Cop reported.

Harris was 15 minutes from home when his Lexus was struck by a white van being chased by Calumet Park police officers.

The driver of that vehicle, a 31-year-old woman, has since been charged with murder.

Harris, 42, described by a neighbor as a “true blue knight,” leaves a wife and two sons.

Blake-Lamb provides pro-bono arrangements for police officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty, a custom established decades ago by the former owners, the Lamb family.

The wake will take place at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W. 103rd St. (103rd Street and Cicero Avenue) in Oak Lawn from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 23. The funeral service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 24, at Living Word Christian Center, 7600 W. Roosevelt Road, Forest Park.

The police rituals and customs for a fallen officer outside of the funeral home are truly moving and something to behold. Patch will provide more information, when available, of Monday's procession.
