Monday, January 6

Retail Theft Arrest

Police charged Chernice Calvin, 28, of Chicago, with retail theft at Deals on North Avenue around 1 p.m. She was given a Feb. 10 court date and released on $1,500 bond. 

Snowblower, Chainsaw Stolen

Someone stole a chainsaw and a snowblower from a garage in the 100 block of North Ridgeland Avenue between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The total estimated loss is $350, police said. 

Sunday, January 5

$3,725 in Goods Stolen in Burglary

Someone entered a home in the 900 block of Wenonah Avenue between 9 a.m. Jan. 3 and 3:05 p.m. Jan. 5 and stole a laptop, two iPads, an antique watch and cash. The total estimated loss is $3,725, police said. 

Car Stolen

Someone stole a black 2004 Lincoln LS in the 400 block of Home Avenue between 5:30 p.m. Jan. 3 and 4:10 p.m. Jan. 5. The total estimated loss is $6,000, police said. 

Purse Stolen From Back of Chair

Someone stole a woman's purse containing her license, credit cards and cash while it was hanging on the back of a chair in the 1100 block of Lake Street between 3:30 and 5:40 p.m. The total estimated loss is $190, police said. 

Cab Driver Reports Theft of Service

Blue Cab of Oak Park reported theft of services after a woman left without paying her $21 fare around 6 p.m. 

Saturday, January 4

Wallet Stolen From Woman on Lake Street

A man in his 40s stole a woman's wallet from her purse in the 900 block of Lake Street around 1 p.m. Police said the offender ran in an unknown direction. The total estimated loss is $180, police said. 

Bike Stolen

Someone stole a $550 bike from an unlocked garage in the 600 block of North Lombard Avenue between 9:15 a.m. and 2:25 p.m. 

Friday, January 3

$4,200 in Electronics, Jewelry Stolen

Someone stole a camera, camera accessories, a jewelry box containing bracelets, necklaces, a passport, 10 pairs of earrings and two rings from a home in the 700 block of South Taylor Avenue between 7 and 8:30 p.m. The total estimated loss is $4,230, police said. 

Copper Piping Stolen

Someone stole about 40 feet of copper piping from the basement ceiling of a vacant apartment in the 200 block of Iowa Street between 8 a.m. Dec. 21 and 10:30 a.m. Jan. 3. The total estimated loss is $60, police said. 

GPS Unit Stolen

Someone stole a GPS unit from a car in an unlocked garage in the 400 block of North Cuyler Avenue between 9 a.m. Dec. 29 and 6 p.m. Jan. 3. The total estimated loss is $300, police said. 

Wednesday, January 1

2 Charged With DUI After Accident on Miller

Police charged Paul Ryza, 37, of the 800 block of North Grove Avenue in Oak Park, with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to give aid or information, improper lane use and unsafe equipment in the 1100 block of Miller Avenue around 2:45 a.m. 

Timothy Ashcraft, 30, of Chicago, was also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, failure to give information after striking property and illegal transportation of alcohol. 

GPS Stolen From Car

Someone stole a GPS unit, a Jeep key, two floor mats, tennis balls and paper from an unlocked car in the 1000 block of South Oak Park Avenue between 10:30 p.m. Dec. 29 and 10:30 a.m. Jan. 1. The total estimated loss is $301, police said. 

Trespassing, Battery Arrest at Dunkin' Donuts

Police charged Donald Lee, 57, of Chicago, with trespassing and battery to a Naperville resident at Dunkin Donuts in the 200 block of Madison Street around 7 a.m. 

Tuesday, December 31

$8,650 in Electronics, Watches Stolen

Someone used a pry tool to break into a home in the 600 block of Washington Boulevard and stole five watches, a speaker, gaming accessories, a gaming console, a laptop, a tablet and a camera, and damaged a gun cabinet between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The total estimated loss is $8,650, police said. 

Bike Stolen From Garage

Someone stole a $350 bike from an open garage in the 700 block of Clinton Avenue between noon Dec. 30 and 8 a.m. Dec. 31.

Teens Ransack Pay Station Box

Two teens ransacked a pay station box at a village-owned parking lot in the 700 block of North Boulevard around 4:25 a.m. 

Car, Personal Items Stolen From Garage

Someone broke into a garage in the 1100 block of South Lombard Avenue, loaded up a car with items from the garage and stole the car between 6 p.m. Dec. 30 and around 2 a.m. Dec. 31. The car was later recovered in Cicero. The total estimated loss is $5,600, police said. 

Robbery on Ridgeland

An offender approached a male from behind in the 1200 block of North Ridgeland Avenue and stole his wallet between 11:30 p.m. Dec. 30and 2 a.m. Dec. 31. The total estimated loss is $500, police said. 

Monday, December 30

Woman Changes Price Tags on Meat, Sweatshirt

Police charged Charlene Pearson, 42, of Chicago, with retail theft after she allegedly changed the price tags on a package of meat and a sweatshirt at Wal-Mart, 1300 Des Plaines Ave., around 3:15 p.m. She was charged with felony retail theft and given a Jan. 2 court date.

Burglary

Someone stole an iPad, a cell phone a laptop and a camcorder from a home in the 200 block of Elgin Avenue in Forest Park between 2 and 7 a.m. 

Saturday, December 28

Retail Theft Arrests at Wal-Mart

Forest Park police charged Airica Golden, 27, of DeKalb and Roxanne Watkins, 44, of Chicago, with retail theft at Wal-Mart, 1300 Des Plaines Avenue, around 3:50 p.m. Watkins allegedly stole $185 in bathroom items, clothing items and personal care and food items, police said. Golden, who ran from store security and was found hiding in a Kmart bathroom stall, allegedly stole a TV, worth about $500. Golden was charged with felony retail theft. They were given Jan. 2 and Feb. 25 court dates and held on bond.
