Chicago Woman Stole Blouse and Girdle to Wear to Church: Cops

The Chicago woman reportedly told police she planned to steal purses but changed her mind.

A Chicago woman caught shoplifting from the Macy’s in the Orland Square Mall explained that she planned to wear a stolen blouse and girdle to church, police said.

Sherry McGowan, 50, was still arrested for allegedly filching the $98 blouse and $62 girdle.

A Macy’s security guard reportedly stopped McGowan outside the store and detained her until the law arrived. Besides the stolen blouse and girdle, McGowan was in possession of a pair of pliers, tinfoil and garbage bags she planned to use to “facilitate the theft,” police said.
