Tom Domres, Danny’s father, said he and his wife Julie found out Domres was missing at 11 a.m. Sunday. They currently live in Minnesota.

“He left base the Monday before, on May 11, and the only way we found out was that I texted a guy from his unit. I only had one phone number (for Danny) and he wasn’t picking up his phone for six weeks,” Domres said.

Toward the end of March and the beginning of April, Tom and Julie spent the week with Danny in Colorado Springs. Tom said he seemed fine.

“We had a good visit and he had mentioned a girlfriend,” Tom said. “He didn’t say anything was wrong in the service.”

Danny even talked to them about going to college and maybe running for a college team. He’s a good runner. While stationed at Fort Knox in Tennessee, Danny won a 10-mile race.

“He was doing really well,” Tom said.

Danny did a nine month tour in Afghanistan. When he came back, he was transferred from Fort Knox to Fort Carson.

While at Fort Carson, Danny got into trouble with alcohol, Tom said. There was an incident May 11 where he was under the influence during formation.

That’s when Danny left.

“We’re just hoping he’s okay,” Tom said. “He’s not answering texts, he’s not answering phone calls and he’s not answering his Facebook page.”

The family is also concerned that Danny may be suffering from post traumatic stress disorder.

If you have been contacted by Danny or know of his whereabouts, contact Tom or Julie Domres at 630-200-6766 or 612-718-2333. Danny was described as weighing 155 lbs and having a height of 5’ 9’’.
