Two Oswego Juveniles Arrested for Street Racing: Police

Two Oswego, male juveniles were arrested for street racing last Friday evening at Routes 34 and 71 just before midnight, said the Oswego Police Department.

One male juvenile, 17, was charged with street racing and the other male juvenile, 16, was charged with street racing, speeding and failure to signal, according to Oswego police. The 16-year-old was also cited with no insurance.

The incident happened at 11:53 p.m. as police caught one car traveling 60 mph in a 40 mph zone westbound on Route 34. Both cars were stopped by a red light at the intersection of Route 34, Wolf Road and Route 71.

Before a traffic stop could occur, the light changed to green and the two cars took off on southbound Route 71. One of the vehicles failed to signal to merge as the lane narrowed.

A traffic stop was initiated by the Oswego police past Oswego High School and both juveniles were arrested.
