Fire Totals Vacant Home in Palos Park
An overnight fire at a vacant home on 130th Street was described as "fully involved" when firefighters arrived.
PALOS PARK, IL - A vacant home in Palos Park caught fire overnight, causing a total loss.
Palos Park Fire Chief Jim Graben said firefighters responded to the 8100 block of West 130th Street around 3:45 a.m. after a neighbor called 911. He said it was a "defensive fire attack" because it was learned immediately that it was a vacant home and nobody would have been inside.
"Nobody entered the building because we ascertained that it was vacant, something the building owner later confirmed," said Graben, adding that there were no injuries.
