Parolee and Female Friend Face Charges for Possession, Loaded Guns
Crestwood cops discover two loaded guns in young mother's purse, suspect heroin in parolee's car, prosecutors say.

Crestwood police discovered two loaded handguns in a woman’s purse after her male companion was pulled over in a traffic stop, prosecutors said in court on Tuesday.
Veshay Brock, 22, was charged with unlawful use of weapon. Tyree Mitchell, 31, is charged possession of a controlled substance and driving on a suspended license.

Police pulled Mitchell over in the 4700 block of Cal-Sag Road, Crestwood, on July 5, where it was determined that he had an active warrant for driving on a suspended license. Prosecutors also said that officers also saw a bag of suspect heroin lying in plain view.
During a search of Brock’s handbag, prosecutors said that police found a 9mm pistol and a silver revolver. Both weapons were loaded.

The assistant public defender told the judge that Mitchell is engaged with three children.
Brock is single with two children, unemployed, and disabled with a hand injury. The hand injury was attributed to her co-defendant, the assistant public defender said.
According to the Illinois Department of Corrections, Mitchell is currently out on parole for possession of a controlled substance.
Court records also revealed that Brock accused Mitchell of attempted murder.
Cook County Judge Peter Felice set Mitchell’s bail at $200,000.
Brock was handed a conditional bail of $5,000, who scored zero on a pre-trial risk assessment. She was assigned to electronic home monitoring and must submit to random urine drops.
Their next court date is July 29.
