Macy's Plans Job Cuts as Cost-Saving Measure
The national retailer is making changes, which will affect its Joliet store, in order to save about $100 million, a published report said.
None of the closed stores will be in Illinois, a Chicago Tribune story said, but many of the jobs lost will be "front-end" positions in stores. The store has about 175,000 store "associates" nationally.
There will also be staff cuts merchandise planning positions and central office jobs as the national retailer combines its Midwest and North regions to streamline operations, the Trib story said.
No information was released on how that will affect individual stores, such as the one in Louis Joliet Mall in Joliet.
