March Primary Petitions Available Tuesday

Will County Clerk, Nancy Schultz Voots announced Wednesday that her office will have nominating petitions available on Tuesday, Sept. 3 for persons who wish to run in the March 18, 2014 General Primary Election. 

The following countywide offices and County Board districts will be nominated for election:  

  • County Clerk (four-year term)
  • County Treasurer (four-year term)
  • County Sheriff (four-year term)
  • Regional Superintendent of Schools  (four-year term)
  • Two County Board members (four-year terms) from County Board Districts 2, 5, 9 and 11.  
  • Precinct Committeeman (two-year terms) 

Nominating petitions will be available at the Will County Clerk’s Office, 302 N. Chicago St., Joliet, on Tuesday, Sept. 3.  You may also request a Petition Packet be mailed or e-mailed to you at elections@willcountyillinois.com.  Petitions for federal, state and judicial offices will be available from the State Board of Elections.

The first day to file a petition is Monday, Nov. 25.  The last day is Monday, Dec. 2, until 5 p.m.  

The Will County Clerk’s Office will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday on Nov. 28 and 29.  Petitions received by mail in the County Clerk’s Office before November 25th will be returned. 

The County Clerk’s Office will conduct a lottery for those offices where two or more petitions were received simultaneously for the same party as of the opening hour or within the last hour of the filing period. The lottery will take place at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10.
