A man was involved in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday night.

PLAINFIELD, IL -- A man who Plainfield authorities said suffered a medical emergency before a one-car crash in Plainfield has been identified as a 68-year-old Naperville man. Will County Coroner Patrick K. O'Neil said Paul W. Sternberg was pronounced dead at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Presence St. Joseph Medical Center emergency room.

Plainfield Deputy Fire Chief Jon Stratton said crews responded to a report of a driver who was "all over the road" at around 7:21 p.m. near Route 126 and Route 59. The vehicle crashed into an area with several trees, Stratton said.

Sternberg was taken to Adventist Medical Center in Bolingbrook in critical condition. On Friday, the coroner's office said Sternberg died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident, according to WJOL.
