Plainfield Bike Path Work to Start Next Month

Bike path improvements slated for Van Dyke Road, 135th Street, 119th Street and Settlers' Park.

Plainfield Bike Path Work to Start Next Month
Weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin April 7 on a project to extend the existing bike path along Van Dyke Road south to Lockport Street, the village announced last week.

Asphalt patching and seal coating work is also slated to begin at various bike path locations along along Van Dyke Road, 135th Street, 119th Street and Settlers' Park. The project will be integrated with the new pedestrian signals at Van Dyke Road and Lockport Street to provide increased pedestrian access, according to the village.

Plainfield Superintendent of Public Improvements Randy Jessen said the project will cost $289,192.87.

The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of May or early June, Jessen said.
