The Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce has opened registration for the 15th annual Edward Plainfield Harvest 5K Run/Walk and Kidz Miler. The races will be held on Sunday, Sept. 29, with the start and finish at the Village Green in downtown Plainfield. The 5K Run/Walk will begin at 9 a.m. and the Kidz Miler will begin at 8 a.m., followed by a post-race party at Tap House Grill in Plainfield.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit local charities and community service organizations. Last year, more than 1,200 runners/walkers took part in the 5K and more than 200 children participated in the Kidz Miler.
The pre-race day online registration fee for the 5K race for adults and children 13 and older is $35. Registrations received by mail and race day registrations will be $40. The registration fee for the Kidz Miler (children 6-12) is $15.
Pre-registered participants will receive a long sleeve T-shirt and goody bag during the pre-race packet pick-up at Edward Plainfield, 127th St. and Van Dyke Rd. Cash prizes will be awarded to the men’s and women’s overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers and medals will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each age category.
Kids 6-12 years old can also take part in the Edward Plainfield Harvest 5K “Design a T-Shirt” contest. The winner’s design will be on the shirts handed out to the children who run in the Kidz Miler.
