'Screamfield' to Host Improv Camp Auditions
"Camp Scream" set for Aug. 9.
Organizers are planning a three-hour improvisational camp for cast and crew members for the annual haunt, held in the basement of the Plainfield Police Department. The haunted house benefits the District 202 Foundation for Excellence.
"Camp Scream" is set for 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Plainfield Police Department, 14300 Coil Plus Drive.
Participants ages 13 and older are invited to come out to the camp to learn how to become a resident of the spooky "Screamfield." Student actors who are 12 but will be 13 before Oct. 1 are also welcome, but must attend with a parent or guardian. Adult actors ages 21 and up are also needed for the haunt, organizers said.
"You do not need to be scary, funny or even feel comfortable with the smallest of acting jobs. This is not an acting audition. It is meant to be a great experience for everyone whether they are in the haunt or not," organizer Ken Erdey said in an email. "We will be focusing on energy, and getting the most out of this experience."
This time around, organizers will develop an acting troupe for the haunt. "Only the best will be voted into this group," Erdey said. "These actors will receive lead roles and have the ability to develop and create their own characters." To be part of the troupe, you must be age 18 or older.
