VIDEO: Plainfield Teachers Take On Bruno Mars To Get Kids Excited About Testing
Teachers become YouTube stars with "24K Magic" parody.

PLAINFIELD, IL -- Anyone who knows a teacher will tell you -- they'll do just about anything to get their kids excited about learning. And teachers at Freedom Elementary School in Plainfield went above and beyond, singing, dancing and filming their take on Bruno Mars' hit song "24K Magic" to spread enthusiasm for this week's PARCC testing.
"PARCC Testing Magic" urged students to get excited about showing off what they've learned as they prepared to take the standardized tests this week.
Teacher Laila Gunlock said the third-grade team put the video together "to help pump up students and staff in our building/district for the PARCC standardized tests (or at least give them a laugh during what can be a stressful time).

"We were hoping to put a positive spin on the standardized testing, and help the kids to get excited about showing what they know instead of being anxious or scared of the test," Gunlock said.
Gunlock and fellow teachers Takisha Hill, Alyssa Radostits, Jieun Heo, Christy Newell, Candace Daly came up with the idea last week and wrote the lyrics over their lunch break. They recorded the song on Friday and filmed the video on Monday and Tuesday, "so it all came together quickly so that we could have a video premiere with all the 3rd graders before they started PARCC testing yesterday," Gunlock said Friday.

"All of the teachers at Freedom have shared it and the students love it because they now think that their teachers are YouTube stars," she said.
