New Grocery Store Part of First Development in Romeoville's Uptown Square
Mayor John Noak said it was a priority of the Village Board to move ahead with a pla to bring a grocer to town.
At a board meeting earlier this week, Village Trustees approved the first commercial development in Uptown Square.
The development agreement with BG Investments, LLC, is to construct a 10,000-square foot building at the corner of Phelps Avenue and Illinois Route 53, according to a Village E-News alert. The new facility will include a Fat Ricky's Restaurant, a delicatessen and a 4,000-square foot grocery store—Franconi's.
"We are very excited about this new development," stated Mayor John Noak in the Village E-News alert. "While Fat Ricky's restaurant will continue their success in the new location, adding the new Franconi's grocery store to this development has been a priority of the Village Board."
Noak said construction is anticipated to begin this summer with completion by the end of the year.
In addition to the development by BG Investments, another retail outlot for Uptown Square will be presented to the Village Board in the near future for the corner of Alexander Circle and Route 53, according to the Village E-News alert.
