Cat Owner Found

It turns out Winston wasn't lost at all. He was just "ridding the neighborhood" of mice.

SKOKIE, IL - The owner of the cat found venturing around in a Skokie couple’s garage has been found.

The orange tabby cat who kept coming in to a garage in the 9400 block of N. Karlov Ave. owned by Eric and Ellen Badofsky belongs to a woman who lives just one block away.

“The owner contacted me. She lives one block over and apparently lets the cat out to "play." His name is Winston,” Eric told Skokie Patch on Wednesday. “I suggested other that she get him a collar with an ID and vaccination tag.”

The owner herself said she was actually holding the cat in her lap when an alert from Patch asked its Skokie readers about who the cat may belong to.
“It's my cat,” the owner wrote in the comment section of the Skokie Patch. “This kitty has a very healthy and happy home. He was literally sitting on my lap when this blast came through my feed from Patch.”

The owner thanked the hundreds of people who have read, commented or shared the lost cat notice.

“I imagine his pursuit of ridding the neighborhood of mice moved him outside the confines of our yard so that he could use his mad rodent-hunting skills for the benefits of the wider community.”
