Crash Between SUV, Semi Truck Injures 2 in Skokie

Golf Road will be closed in both directions near the accident scene for several hours, police say.

SKOKIE, IL - Two people suffered significant injuries early Thursday morning when an SUV crashed into a Jewel semi truck at Golf Road and Keeler Avenue in Skokie.

The crash caused the semi to tip onto its side, according to an NBC Chicago report.

Both the driver and passenger in the SUV were hospitalized at Evanston Hospital with serious injuries, but the driver of the semi was not injured.

Police in Skokie said in a Nixle alert that the 4200 and 4300 block of Golf Road will be closed in both directions for several hours, affecting the entire morning rush hour. The truck, which an NBC photo shows having a Jewel logo, remained on its side as of 7 a.m.

Diesel fuel leaked from the truck for several minutes, but the leak has since been contained.
