Doodlebooth is back at Local Goods Chicago (5354 W Devon) and ready to draw your portrait! Stop in on Feb. 8th from 10am-2pm and get your doodle drawn by Jana Kinsman for $25 as an individual, or $45 as a couple. It makes a great Valentine’s Day gift!
Kinsman’s unique illustration style makes her hand-drawn in-person portraits a quirky and fun keepsake. Her style has evolved from Western- and Eastern-style cartooning, and she’s been heavily influenced by both pop culture and fashion illustration. Her work has gained prominence through her partnership with CB2 over the last four years as the creator behind their Oliver character. In fact, Doodlebooth just finished up a North American tour of CB2 stores over the holidays.
Not only an artist and illustrator, Kinsman is also the creator of Bike-a-bee. Since 2012, Bike-a-bee has served as an urban beekeeping project that places beehives with community gardens all over Chicago and tends to them by bicycle.
Local Goods Chicago couldn’t be more excited about having Doodlebooth back as part of their February happenings. In addition to Doodlebooth, February brings a host of kid’s classes, artisan food samplings, and new booths at the shop. One of their new booths is Kimberly Polka and her functional fused glass art. She offers a wide variety of great gift items from night lights and bottle stoppers to upcycled wine bottle cheese trays and more.
Local Goods Chicago is committed to supporting handmade livelihoods and creating a space dedicated to increasing awareness of the handmade movement. Part coffee shop, part retail space, plus weekly classes, they have something for everyone. Over the past year, the shop has added the work of over 100 different artisans and continues to grow! During their winter hours, Local Goods Chicago is open six days a week. Tuesday-Friday: 10am-6pm, Saturday: 9am-5pm, and Sunday: 12-4pm. Closed Mondays.
