DuPage County to Recount Some Write-In Votes from Primary Election

A re-count has been ordered for write-in votes for five Republican precinct committeeman races.

WHEATON, IL - A DuPage County judge on Wednesday ordered that ballots be re-tallied for write-in votes for five Republican precinct committeeman races after questions have come up over whether the votes were counted correctly following the March 15 primary election, the Daily Herald reports.

County election officials will be re-counting write-in votes cast for Wayne Township in precincts 2, 6, 24, 37 and 51, according to the DuPage County Election Commission website. The re-count was supposed to get started at 11:30 a.m. in the auditorium in the county building at 421 N. County Farm Road in Wheaton.

Write-in candidates for the GOP precinct committeeman posts sought the re-count. Some believe election judges did not tally all the write-in votes, according to the Daily Herald.
