St. Charles North High School ranked No. 26 and St. Charles East High School ranked No. 41 on an annual list of the top high schools in Illinois released by U.S. News & World Report this week.
The methodology, which was unchanged since last year, looks at three main factors to decide a school’s ranking: whether students are performing better than statistically expected for the average student in the state; whether disadvantaged students are performing better in math and reading than the state average for their peers; and the school’s “college-readiness” performance, based on AP or International Baccalaureate test data.
In Illinois, the Prairie State Achievement Examination is used to gauge student performance to determine the ranking. You can view the full list here.
