Victim Found Dead In Burning Garage: St. Charles Police
Multiple people called 911 to report the blaze.

ST. CHARLES, IL —A death investigation is under way after St. Charles firefighters found a male victim dead while battling a garage fire. Police said firefighters responded to a blaze in an a detached garage at 409 McKinley St. at 7:17 p.m. Friday. While extinguishing the fire, crews found an "obviously deceased" male victim, according to police.
Police said the Kane County Coroner is making positive identification of the victim. The cause of the blaze is under investigation and St. Charles police are conducting a death investigation.
Police said it took crews roughly 20 minutes to get the fire under control, and no firefighters were hurt. St. Charles firefighters were assisted by the the Geneva, Batavia, Elburn and South Elgin fire departments.

Damage to the garage was estimated at $100,000, police said.
