Are you surprised at all then that Illinois has the highest average listing price in the Midwest?
According to Trulia.com, a real estate listing and searching website, Illinois has the 27th-highest average listing price for houses on the market (at $300,332) out of all 50 states and the District of Columbia, as of May 28.
But while it's 27th overall, in the Midwest Illinois is number one as you can see on this interactive map of the average listing prices of all 50 states, plus Washington, D.C.
The average home value in Illinois does differ from county to county. These are the 25 counties where you can expect to see a listing higher than the state average because these counties have the highest average home values in Illinois.
