Tinley Park Man Feels Pain at Pump in Frankfort Gas Station

A Tinley Park man lost his wallet when a woman swooped in like a vulture and snatched it off the ground at a Frankfort gas station, then lied when he asked her about it, police said.

The 24-year-old man was victimized Jan. 3 at the 10730 S. Harlem Speedway.

The man reportedly told deputies he pulled up to a pump about 2:30 p.m. and went to prepay for his gasoline.

"Once inside the victim realized that he did not have his wallet in his pocket," police said. "He went outside and observed a female black, in her 60's, next to his vehicle."

The woman headed back to her own car and the man followed her, police said, then asked her about his wallet.

The woman told him she knew nothing about the missing wallet, police said, but video footage shows her "picking up the wallet right outside the victim's car door and getting back inside her vehicle."

The man had $65 in his wallet, police said.
