Video Gambling Coming to 2 Tinley Businesses

One is waiting on final approval from the Village; the other has yet to submit an application.

Video Gambling Coming to 2 Tinley Businesses
Two Tinley Park businesses have received the state's OK to install video gambling machines, and are just waiting on Village approval.

Durbin’s Restaurant and Lounge, 17265 Oak Park Ave., and Nick’s Barbecue, 16638 Oak Park Ave., received the go-ahead from the Illinois Gaming Board at its meeting last week.

Durbin’s application has been submitted to the Village; Nick's had yet to submit one as of Tuesday, Sun-Times Media reports.

Eleven other businesses and two nonprofits are still waiting to hear from the state about their video gambling fate. The Village of Tinley Park approved video gambling in January. Video gaming is only permitted in licensed retail establishments where alcoholic beverages are served for consumption on-premises, including restaurants, bars and fraternal organizations. Each establishment with a liquor license is allowed up to five gambling machines, with an annual fee of $1,000 per machine due to the Village.

The Village has estimated that video gambling could bring in between $180,000 and $300,000 in revenue annually, according to Sun-Times Media.

“The potential new revenue generated by the implementation of video gaming depends on how many businesses participate, and how many machines each business chooses to put in their establishments,” Mayor Edward J. Zabrocki said earlier.

Others with applications pending include:
Bailey’s Bar and Grill, Boston’s Gourmet Pizza, Cuzin’s Pub, Dragon Palace, Fajitas Mexican Restaurant, Harald Viking Lodge, J.W. Hollstein’s Saloon, Intimo, Luby’s Pub & Steakhouse, Old Tinley Pub & Eatery, Pepe’s Mexican Restaurant, Veterans of Foreign Wars Bremen Post 2791 and Vito & Nick’s II.
