The probationary Chicago police officer used the lifesaving technique on the boy after he was found not breathing Thursday on the West Side.

CHICAGO, IL — A probationary Chicago police officer used CPR to save an unconscious 3-year-old boy's life Thursday morning on the West Side, according to police.
Tone Trujillo, a probationary officer with the Chicago Police Department, and his partner, Officer Jose Sanchez, responded to a radio call at about 7:16 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, of a child found not breathing at a home in the 5500 block of West Gladys Avenue in the Austin neighborhood.
When the officers arrived at the scene, Trujillo immediately began performing CPR on the boy, police said. Emergency workers from the Chicago Fire Department took over for Trujillo after arriving a short time later, and the child was resuscitated.
