Unconscious Teen Pulled From High School Pool Dies

The 14-year-old boy was found in 4 to 8 feet of water Wednesday afternoon.

CHICAGO, IL — Paramedics were unable to revive a boy, 14, who had been found unconscious Wednesday in the swimming pool of a Garfield Ridge high school, the Chicago Tribune reports.

At about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, the Chicago Fire Department received a report of an unconscious boy who had been pulled from the pool at John F. Kennedy High School, 6325 W. 56th St., the report stated. The boy was in 4 to 8 feet of water when he was discovered, the report added.

Efforts were made to resuscitate the boy at the scene before he was taken to McNeal Hospital in Berwyn, the report stated. The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital, the report added.

Chicago police are investigating the incident. It is not known if the boy was a student at the school or how he ended up in the pool.
