Man With BB Gun Faces Charges in Incident at Apartment on Roosevelt Road

Police closed down the roadway on Saturday after receiving a report of a man with a gun.

WHEATON, IL - A man with a BB gun faces charges following an incident at an apartment building at 1407 E. Roosevelt Road last weekend that forced police to close down a nearby roadway, according to Suburban Life Publications. The name of the man and the charges have not been released.

Police were called to the area after receiving a report of a man with a gun in the area Saturday evening, Wheaton Police Chief James Volpe told Patch in an e-mail response Monday. They then “closed off the area” until police could locate “the individual and take him into custody.”

“No one was injured and there is not a current threat to the community in that area,” Volpe said in the e-mail.

Several Wheaton Patch Facebook followers reached out to Patch in recent days regarding the incident. Area residents said police officers with guns out were blocking the intersection of Blanchard and Roosevelt around 7 p.m. on Saturday.
