Painting to Begin July 1 at Orchard Water Tower

Crews will begin painting the Orchard water tower in Wheaton July 1.

Painting to Begin July 1 at Orchard Water Tower

Workers are scheduled to begin painting the Orchard water tower on Marywood Trail in Wheaton July 1, where the relocation of cellular antennas has already started, according to a message from the City of Wheaton.

The tower will be covered with a shroud to contain overspray. Work will take place Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., according to the message.

The project, approved by city officials in April, is expected to cost about $800,500. Assistant City Manager Michael Dzugan told TribLocal should not have an impact on surrounding water users.

Inspections will be performed to assure all reasonable precautions are followed in accordance with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. Once complete, the cellular equipment will be relocated back to the tower and the temporary monopole will be removed.
