Body Found In Water At Lincoln Marsh: DuPage Forest Preserve

A visitor spotted a body in the water just off the pier at Lincoln Marsh early Wednesday, police say.

WHEATON, IL — A person was found dead in the water at Lincoln Marsh, not far from the pier, Forest Preserve District of DuPage County spokesperson Beth Schirott confirmed to Patch Wednesday afternoon.

Schirott said police were called to Lincoln Marsh around 8:30 a.m. after a visitor to the marsh spotted the body.

Just before noon, Wheaton city officials said police "have assisted in the clearing the area near Lincoln Marsh, and (Wheaton) police are leaving the area," but noted that DuPage Forest Preserve Police remained in the area and continued to investigate.

According to Schirott, investigators from the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County are heading up the death investigation and that the DuPage County Coroner's Office had been called to the scene. As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, no further details were available regarding the person's identity or their cause of death.

Schirott said there is not believed to be any danger to the public.
