The 18-year-old Chicago man was rescued off a breakwall at Gillson Park Wednesday.

An 18-year-old Chicago man was rescued from drowning in Lake Michigan by U.S. Coast Guard boat crews stationed at the Wednesday, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The man had been "struggling off a breakwall at near the 700 block of North Michigan Avenue," according to the Tribune.

Wilmette firefighters, who initially arrived at the scene at 6:30 p.m., couldn't access the man and called the Coast Guard for assistance. "It took only about four minutes for Coast Guard rescuers members aboard a 25-foot response boat out of Station Wilmette Harbor to get to the man," the Tribune reports.
