New Trier Homeowners Can Appeal Property Tax Assessments

Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin is encouraging township residents to appeal their property tax assessments by October 16.

New Trier Homeowners Can Appeal Property Tax Assessments

Homeowners who live in New Trier Township can appeal their 2012 property tax assessments.

Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin is encouraging property owners to appeal to the Board of Review for property taxes payment due in 2013.

Suffredin said assessments for New Trier homeowners can potentially be reduced, and that could also decrease the amount of taxes that have to be paid by August  of next year.

To appeal your property tax assessment, you may file in person at the Skokie Office of the Cook County Board of Review, located at 5600 Old Orchard Road in room 155 in the Skokie Courthouse.

Online appeals also can be accepted

A property tax seminar will be held on Thursday, Oct. 11 at the Wilmette Park District Community Recreation Center from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Attendees will get a refresher on how to file a property tax assessment appeal and be provided with other information valuable to Illinois tax payers in Cook County.

For more information, contact Commissioner Suffredin’s office at 847-864-1209 or New Trier Assessor Martin Houlihan’s office at 847-446-8200.

October 16, 2012 is the deadline to make your appeal.
