New Trier Student Will Have Artwork Displayed at U.S. Capitol

Amrita Krishnan was the Illinois District 9 winner in the Congressional Art Competition.

New Trier High School Junior Amrita Krishnan will have her artwork on display at the U.S. Capitol for the next year after she was selected as a winner of the Congressional Art Competition.

Krishnan, whose artwork will represent Illinois District 9 , won for her three-panel scratch board, Heron, which took her more than 80 hours to complete.

The competition, which honors student artists in all 50 states, was sponsored by U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky.
