TED Talk event coming to New Trier High School
New Trier High School will host a TED Talk event from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25

New Trier High School will host a TED Talk event from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25 at McGee Auditorium.
Founded initially as a one-off event in California, TED is a global set of conferences owned by the private non-profit Sapling Foundation, under the slogan: “Ideas Worth Spreading.”
The speaker list for the New Trier event includes:
• Carter Kostler: Craig presented on the acclaimed TV show Shark Tank for his invention of the “Define Bottle”; he will elaborate on the importance and innovation of entrepreneurship.

• Celeste Napier: A celebrated neuroscientist who will explore her discoveries and findings on the development of the teen brain.
• Jean Fan : Will enlighten us on the “Uncollege Movement”; how our flawed education system hints at much larger systemic problems.

• Kate Bellanca: CEO of IRI, a foundation working to fulfill schools’ necessities in purpose to set up students for success. New Trier graduate Kate Bellanca will share how her experience at New Trier has shaped her later in life.
• Ashwini Krishnaprasa: A professional life coach and teacher, focusing on lowering crime rates through alternative methods of teaching.
• Jack Levin: A New Trier senior who will focus on inequality and income issues of in the U.S.
• Karina Hillman & Tor Camorlinga: New Trier seniors who will touch on the schools’ systems flawed sex-
education; confronting issues dealing with teenagers suffering from porn addictions.
• Gracee Wallach: A New Trier junior addressing society’s tendency and need to place people in categories and stereotypes; ultimately leading to feelings of separation.
