Bike Winnetka, Wiffle Ball Challenge Deadlines Approaching

Don't forget to sign up for two of Winnetka's most popular events to cap off your summer: Bike Winnetka and the Wiffle Ball Challenge.

Bike Winnetka, Wiffle Ball Challenge Deadlines Approaching

Registration is looming for the 2nd Annual Bike Winnetka event, a leisurely ride that takes bicyclists of all ages through scenic Winnetka on Saturday, Sept. 22 in a group ride format.

The ride begins at 1 p.m. from the Skokie Playfield, and lead rider for this year’s event is Mark Stephan.

The ride offers the traditional 7.9-mile option and the new 2-mile option. Also, thanks to the generosity of the community partners, the cost of this event is only $5 per person.

Registration deadline is September 15 with the ride limited to 300 participants. For additional Bike Winnetka information and to register for the event visit the Winnetka Parks website, click on Recreation, Recreation Programs, Bike Winnetka. Registration is also accepted at the Winnetka Park District administrative office at 540 Hibbard Road.

In addition, show everyone you can be the king of the sandlot as the Parks Department says goodbye to the current Skokie Playfield with the 2nd Annual Winnetka Park District Wiffle Ball Challenge on Saturday, Sept. 22 starting at 2 p.m.

Construction on the Skokie Playfield starts in mid-October.

Held in conjunction with Fall Fest, this tournament will pit the best wiffle ball players in town against each other in a mission to win the coveted Championship Cup. Teams will consist of 5 players in three divisions: Men, women and juniors 17-years-old and under.

All teams will receive an official bat and wiffle balls for pre-tournament practice. Team fee is $50 for resident teams and $75 for non-resident teams. Advanced registration is required through the Winnetka Park District, 540 Hibbard Rd. or on the Park’s website.
