Residents have reported spotting a similar animal in Highland Park, Glencoe and Winnetka throughout the summer.

Another Possible Cougar Sighting on the North Shore

Along the North Shore residents have reported several possible cougar sightings this summer. The sighting in Glenview is the year's first in that area.

On Sunday Sept. 23, a resident of the 4400 block of Crescent Lane reported a cougar-like animal near their home on different occasions during the night and day, according to a recent Glenview Police report. The resident witnessed the animal run towards a retention pond near I-294, police say. 

On Sept. 12, a Northfield resident reported a possible cougar sighting on South Happ Road in the morning hours. Residents have reported spotting a similar animal in . 

Residents are urged to use caution and asked to report sightings of suspicious animals immediately. As a cougar’s main prey, deer carcasses should also be reported to local police.
