Jogger Mistaken for Kidnapper: Urbandale Police Blotter

The Urbandale police reports below are preliminary criminal charges. They do not represent convictions or court resolutions. 

Aug. 31

A 16-year-old Urbandale boy reported being assaulted at the Lions Park gazebo by an 11th-grade boy after the Urbandale High School football game.

Sept. 4

An 8-year-old girl reported that a man tried to abduct her in the 15700 block of Aurora Avenue. Investigation by police determined that the girl had simply been scared by a jogger who ran past.

Sept. 9

A 27-year-old West Des Moines man is being sought for charges of eluding an officer, driving while barred and multiple traffic violations for an incident in the 7700 block of Douglas Avenue. The suspect fled the scene on foot and his vehicle was impounded.
