Trump, Clinton in Dead Heat in Maine: Poll
Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are tied at 37 points in Maine but its districts are split, according to a new poll.

AUGUSTA, ME — The 2016 presidential race in Maine is a dead heat. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump were tied at 37 points while Libertarian Gary Johnson registered 11 points, according to the Maine People's Resource Center's latest public opinion poll. The poll was conducted Sept. 15-17 and recorded results from 835 likely Maine voters via phone and internet communication.
Maine has four electoral votes up for grabs in the Nov. 8 election. Two votes are awarded to the statewide popular vote winner, one vote is awarded to the First District winner, and one vote is awarded to the Second District winner.

Maine People's Resource Center Presidential Poll September 2016
The poll has a 3-point margin of error. The resource center, formed in 1984, bills itself as a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization "dedicated to giving Maine people, especially those who are under-represented in civic life, skills and information to participate in the decision-making processes that affect them."
Nationally, Clinton is at 41 points, compared to Trump at 40 points and Johnson at 8 points, according to RealClearPolitics averages.
In 2012, President Barack Obama swept all four of Maine's electoral votes over Republican Mitt Romney, capturing 55 percent of the popular vote compared to Romney's 40 percent.
