Police: Edgewood Man Shot During Custody Exchange

The man was wounded in Belcamp, and was flown from his residence in Edgewood.

An Edgewood man was shot in the shoulder after an altercation with his wife's ex-husband during the drop-off of two children, police said.

The incident, first reported by Patch on Tuesday night, took place around 5:40 p.m. that day in the 4200 block of Chapelgate Court in Belcamp, police said.

Two men were injured, one by the gun, the other by gunshot. One man was airlifted to Shock Trauma at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, where he was treated and released before being arrested.

According to a Harford County Sheriff's Office release, deputies responded to the Belcamp residence of David Woodfolk, 35, who was found with a head injury. They determined that Woodfolk and David LaMont Gregg, 40, of the 3400 block of Periwinkle Way in Edgewood, got into a fight after Gregg was dropping off Woodfolk's children.

According to the release, the children were 9 and 3 years old.

Police said while approaching the home, Gregg pulled a handgun and pointed it toward Woodfolk, leading to an altercation. During the fight, Gregg was shot in the shoulder.

Deputles later responded to Gregg's home in Edgewood, from where he was flown to Shock Trauma, treated treated and released. 

Gregg was arrested upon his return home and charged with first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, use of a firearm in the commission of an assault and carrying a concealed dangerous weapon, according to the sheriff's office release.

Gregg is being held without bond at the Harford County Detention Center, according to online court records.
