MD Weather: Record Heat Coming To MD After Storms With 50MPH Winds
Tuesday storms could pack strong winds and hail, while record heat is predicted for Thursday in Maryland, the National Weather Service said.

MARYLAND — Tuesday afternoon storms could pack strong wind gusts and small hail across the Baltimore-DC region, while record heat is predicted for Thursday in the state, the National Weather Service said.
The official high for Feb. 23 is 78 degrees at Baltimore-Washington International Airport, sent in 1874, the NWS said. Forecasts call for Thursday's high to hit 78.
Tuesday into the evening the area is under a hazardous weather outlook for the Maryland portion of the Chesapeake Bay, tidal Potomac River, and I-95 corridor through central Maryland, northern Virginia, and District of Columbia.

A wind advisory is in effect for the Washington and Baltimore metropolitan areas from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. West winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts around 50 mph are expected.
A gale warning is in effect from 1 to 7 p.m. for the Maryland Chesapeake Bay from north of Pooles Island to North Beach, including the Patapsco River and Chester River, as well as the tidal Potomac River from Key Bridge to Cobb Island.

Showers and an isolated thunderstorm may produce strong gusty winds and small hail early Tuesday afternoon across the D.C. and Baltimore metros as well as areas east of U.S. 15 in Maryland, the NWS said.
A massive winter storm that will stretch 2,600 miles from coast to coast across the northern United States this week will unload heavy snow over the Upper Midwest while also spreading an icy mix to the northern New England coast, AccuWeather meteorologists said. But that same storm system will deliver the summer-like warm on Thursday.
"In the storm's warm sector, showers may be accompanied by thunder and lightning from the Ozarks and Ohio Valley to the central Appalachians and mid-Atlantic regions," AccuWeather said.
Here's the forecast for the Baltimore region:
Tuesday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms before 3pm, then isolated showers between 3pm and 4pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Partly sunny, with a high near 63. Breezy, with a west wind 9 to 14 mph increasing to 16 to 21 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 46 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 38. West wind 9 to 14 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph.
Wednesday: A chance of rain before 10am, then rain likely, possibly mixed with sleet between 10am and 1pm, then rain likely after 1pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 47. Southeast wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no sleet accumulation expected.
Wednesday Night: A chance of rain, mainly after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. Southeast wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Southwest wind 13 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 45. Breezy.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 50. Breezy.
