MARYLAND — Rain and thunderstorms are in the Maryland forecast all week, and some could be severe on Monday afternoon. A hazardous weather outlook for the Baltimore region has been issued by the National Weather Service.
The outlook is for the Maryland portion of the Chesapeake Bay, tidal Potomac River, and I-95 corridor through central Maryland, northern Virginia, and District of Columbia.
An isolated severe thunderstorm with damaging winds and large hail is possible Monday afternoon and evening, mainly from the Fredericksburg area to southern Maryland, the National Weather Service said. Then, a line of thunderstorms with locally damaging winds may approach the area late tonight.

There is a threat of at least isolated severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts and hail at times Wednesday afternoon through Friday.
"Late Monday evening into Tuesday morning, storms will likely continue into the Appalachians and Mid-Atlantic," AccuWeather.com said. "Cities such as Staunton, Virginia and Washington, D.C. may be impacted by storms during the predawn hours Tuesday
The record-setting heat wave in the Southwest is moving east and will start to influence the Baltimore-Washington region Monday, according to the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang.
"The hot and muggy weather will persist through the workweek, but the worst of the heat will remain to our west and south," the Post said. "Because we’ll lie in the transition zone between that stifling heat and cooler air to the north, we’ll be in a favorable spot for storms, which could be intense at times."
