Recall Update: Hundreds Of Over-The-Counter Items By MD Family Dollar
Hundreds of products that were stored in violation of label guidelines and shipped have been recalled by Family Dollar stores in Maryland.

Update: This story has been corrected to note which items were subject to a July recall. Maryland stores were not part of a subsequent recall.
MARYLAND — Family Dollar recalled dozens of over-the-counter products — from pain relievers and allergy medicines to nicotine gum and toothpaste— that were sold in Maryland stores.
The company shipped out more than 400 items that the retailer recalled after they were stored outside of recommended temperature controls, according to the Food and Drug Administration. The recall involves many over-the-counter pharmaceuticals that the FDA regulates.

Family Dollar stored and "inadvertently" shipped the products to certain stores on or around May 1 through June 10, according to a company announcement the USDA shared. The recall primarily impacts health and hygiene products, such as toothpaste, ointments, sunscreen and pain relievers.

To date, Family Dollar hasn't received any consumer complaints or reports of illness related to the recall. Items covered by the recall were sold at stores in every state except Delaware, Alaska and Hawaii, the FDA said.
Dollar Tree owns Family Dollar, but the recall notice makes no mention of Dollar Tree stores.
The company said the recall was issued "out of an abundance of caution."
The company has dozens of potentially affected Maryland locations.
"Family Dollar has notified its affected stores asking them to check their stock immediately and to quarantine and discontinue the sale of any affected product," the recall notice said. "Customers that may have bought affected product may return such product to the Family Dollar store where they were purchased without receipt."
The company initiated a separate recall last week on certain Colgate products, but it doesn't apply to Maryland stores.
