Chesapeake Bay Bridge Under Wind Warning Jan. 12

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge is under a wind warning on Thursday, the Maryland Transportation Authority advises.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A wind warning is in effect for the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on Thursday, Jan. 12, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority. Sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph or or wind gusts that persistently exceed 30 mph trigger wind warnings, transportation officials say.

Drivers of the following vehicles should use extra caution while crossing the bridge during a wind warning: house trailers, box trailers, motorcycles, vehicles with roof-mount racks containing cargo or any other vehicle that may be subject to high winds.

State transportation officials advise keeping both hands on the wheel and slowing down during periods of strong winds.
