ANNAPOLIS, MD — A commercial dump truck fell into an Annapolis ravine on Monday, county police announced. Medics pronounced the driver dead on the scene, officers said. Authorities identified the victim as 63-year-old Cleve Tyrone Maynard of Glen Burnie.
Police heard about the crash around 12:56 p.m. Officers said the accident happened on eastbound Maryland Route 665, also known as Aris T. Allen Boulevard. The scene was located just after Maryland Route 2, or Solomons Island Road.
Authorities said the 2013 Peterbilt Dump Truck left the roadway for unknown reasons, hit a bridge retaining wall and overturned in the ravine below. After the Anne Arundel County Fire Department pronounced the driver dead, crews took his body to the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy. This will determine the cause of death.
