Giant, Safeway, Wegmans and More: New Year's Day 2017 Store Hours

Whether your New Year's weekend is a whirl of parties or a quiet bit of family time before school and work resumes, it's probably also time to re-stock the refrigerator and cupboards. The folks at Mid-Atlantic locations of Giant, Food Lion, Weis, Harris Teeter and Wegmans stores, among others, are open up for business, with many closing early on New Year's Eve, which is Saturday, Dec. 31, and then reopening on New Year's Day, Sunday, Jan. 1.

We've compiled a list of holiday hours for several grocery store chains, taken from their websites and emails to Patch.

Here's a look at grocery store hours on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day in the Mid-Atlantic states:

• Giant: All stores will be open New Year's Eve until 9 p.m. and will be open regular hours on New Year's Day, Jan. 1.
• Safeway: All area stores will be open normal business hours on New Year's Eve and on New Year's Day.
• Wegmans: All stores will close at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31 and reopen at 7 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1.
• Food Lion: All stores will be open normal business hours on New Year's Eve and on New Year's Day.
• Weis Markets: All stores will close at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31, all pharmacies will be open until 5 p.m. on New Year's Eve. All stores will observe regular store hours on Sunday, Jan. 1; 24-hour stores will reopen at 6 a.m. Sunday, while all pharmacies will be open regular hours. (If regular hours are later than 3 pm, they will close at 3 pm.)
• MOMs My Organic Market: Stores open normal weekend hours, which are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m on Sunday.
• Green Valley Marketplace: The Arnold and Elkridge stores are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on New Year's Eve, and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on New Year's Day.
• Whole Foods: Most stores are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on New Year's Eve, and open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on New Year's Day.
• Trader Joes: All stores close at will close at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31; all locations are closed on New Year's Day.
• Harris Teeter: Most stores are open 24 hours a day, including New Year's Eve and Jan. 1 Check regular Harris Teeter store hours for every supermarket.
• Aldi: All stores open until 7 p.m. on New Year's Eve, all stores are closed on New Year's Day.
• Walmart: Super Centers, which are open 24 hours a day, will remain open throughout the holiday weekend. For other Walmarts, closing hours vary by location, but generally will between 8 and 10 p.m. on New Year's Eve. Stores will reopen for regular hours at 6 a.m. for non-24-hour stores on Jan. 1.
• Costco: Open until 6 p.m. Dec. 31; closed on New Year's Day.
