Maryland July 4 Weekend Weather Forecast: Rain, Storms Before Holiday

MARYLAND — Independence Day is almost here, but so are the heat and the thunderstorms. Meteorologists are calling for a steamy and rainy weekend.

Friday should be clear and hot, but the storms may roll in Saturday afternoon. The rain may linger through Sunday night. The clouds could break by Monday's holiday, however.

There is still a chance that the stormy front may slow and stall when it reaches the mid-Atlantic region, AccuWeather said. This could prolong the precipitation.

AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski expects recurring showers throughout the weekend. Sosnowski said the atmosphere could have enough moisture to bring "not only pop-up afternoon and evening thunderstorms each day, but also the potential for multiple downpours and thunderstorms."
